Shots for Mochi

It's that time of the year again for Mochi, her yearly shots and her 1 year adoption anniversary!  Since we adopted her, the shelter gave her all the shots she needed. We didn’t need a vet until a couple months later when she had constipation. The vet we picked was nice, the staff and veterinarian were very friendly but there was just something about it that I didn’t like, like a weird vibe.  It felt like the vet kept trying to sell us stuff increasing the bill saying she needs all these vitamins and other pills.  So now that its time for her to get her shots updated I found another place hopping that this can be her permanent veterinarian.

Her appointment time was at 2:30 the wait time was short so that was good.  When the veterinarian came in he answered all our questions and concern, did the wellness check up and that was it. Didn’t try to up sale anything didn’t say she needed all these medication like the other vet and he got to the point. I really liked that.

I let the vet know that when they do come in to give her the shots the needles have to be hidden if she see’s them it is over and not going to happen.  The vet assistant did a good job at hiding it the first shot went smoothly but now Mochi know’s whats coming the second shot went horrible! She wouldn’t stay still moved like crazy and the vet assistant got hurt in the process with the needle and bleed so much.  I felt so bad! But she said it's ok it happens.  So we tried couple more times then I had my boyfriend hold Mochi and the vet assistant showed us a way to keep her still.  Which I kind of wish she showed us that from the start it made everything so much easier! Although I still had to hold her paws together so she wouldn’t try to push away.

It took my boyfriend and I to hold her down so the vet assistant can get the shots done.  Isn’t that crazy?!  After all 3 shots were done it was time to cut her nails.  She freaked out big time crying, screaming, breathing so hard and the vet assistant hasn’t even started yet.  When she did start though after the first paw Mochi calmed down although she was still very scared.  I felt so bad but she needed her nails cut.  She was so scared she literally had the shit scared out of her.  I’m pretty sure it was because she got her temperature taken earlier that made the poop come out so easily.  It was very small.

I’ve never had such a crazy experience at the vet before.  She is definitely a fighter when she doesn’t want something.  But I’m glad we were able to get her shots taken care of.

L.A Foodie Date

We haven’t done one of these types of dates where we drive around and find new places to eat in a while, and we picked a hot weekend to do it. *face palm* but it was fun regardless of the heat.  We started out going to a park near my house to figure out our plan for the day, see what we wanted to do, but we ended up spending about an hour catching Pokemon haha. After realizing the time we hit the road to Smorgasburg in downtown LA.  It is a relatively new event that started sometime in June of this year.  They have many food vendors, a bar, and other vendors selling merchandise.  We didn’t try that many things because the heat was crazy hot and some lines were pretty long.  If we ever come back I’d probably try to get there earlier so that we wouldn’t have to wait as long.

Smorgasburg is at the Alameda Produce Market, it is every Sunday, from 10 am to 5 pm. (new hours; used to be until 6pm) Admission is free and free 2 hour parking at the parking garage located on Alameda and Bay.

I finally got to try this drink I keep seeing on Instagram from the vendors POPUP most of their drink has the option to be a soda or tea version.  I got Lychee Butterflypea soda, the lychee flavor came out strong which I loved!  There is also a hint of coconut water and club soda added for the bubbles.

Next my boyfriend got this soft shell crab burger which I did not like.  I did like the sauce that was covering the crab but the sauce was hot so it was a little difficult to grab and eat the burger.  I ended up just taking the crab out and biting it.  It had a strong ocean taste like you can taste the pier and not much meat.  So not a fan but whatever that sauce was, was good I ate it with the chips that came with it.

Next up is Mama Musubi, which was also just ok.  We ordered the bbq beef and the mama special which from what I remembered has shrimp, imitation crab, and something else I can’t remember.  Both lacking in flavor, the furikaka which is a rice seasoning and the nori (sea weed) kind of took over the flavor.

The last thing we got which! By the way is something I’ve always wanted to try! It is called the raindrop cake.  People say the jello cake it self taste like nothing, but I liked it!  If you really try to taste it there is a hint of sweetness but nothing noticeable.  Defiantly have to eat it with the black sugar syrup which I believe is called Kuromitsu syrup.  The sweetness over the jello cake was delicious in my opinion.  The Kinako (soy flour) on the other hand, I wasn’t that big of a fan off, just a little dip here and there it was perfect.

After we left Smorgasburg we got Honey Boba, I got Passion fruit - Pineapple Ice crystals and my boyfriend got Passion fruit ice crystal which is basically a slush. It was our first time trying this place and it was good, very refreshing on a hot day.  The boba itself was good too.

We were going to hang out at the park but notice that there was 2 lures up at the pokestop across the street so we decided to park in the middle of both and catch Pokemons before deciding to eat at Melt it! and Dog Haus.

At Melt it! We got a Philly “grilled cheese” steak sandwich and a grilled cheese pizza which was their special that day. At Dog Haus we got Downtown Dog which is a smoked bacon wrapped dog, with caramelized onions, pickled peppers, mayo, mustard, and ketchup. We also got Das Brat and that is a bratwurst with whole grain mustard aioli, sauerkraut, and caramelized onions.

I didn’t like the Philly grilled cheese steak that much but I did like the grilled cheese pizza.  As for Dog Haus, Downtown dog was the winner for me although I did like the bratwurst in Das Brat but not a fan of sauerkraut.

After our meal we drove around some more and ended up at a random park to kill some time before our movie and wow I’ve never seen so many Pokemon players.  Whenever someone found something the whole crowd follows.  I can see why there has been plenty of accidents involving this game.  A car was pulling into a parking spot and this girl just walked right through it with her face glued to the phone not realizing she almost got hit.
I've never been to a Dine-in movie theater and this one had reclining seats and it was awesome! The seats were so comfortable and roomy! I wanted to try something new instead of my usual flavor margarita so I got a blueberry margarita and it was sour but addicting. We watched Star Trek Beyond.  It was a good movie, some parts reminded me of Guardian of the Galaxy and the first Star wars movie put together.

Well that was our date day, it was fun even if it was extremely hot.  I've included a link below to my Youtube Channel.  I am learning how to edit videos in an attempt to vlog, although I am shy maybe vlogging will push me out there to get over it.

New Hair!

I haven’t cut my hair in over 2 and a half years!  Its long overdue and all that hair has got to go. I’ve been wanting to make a big change with how my hair looks but…. with how expensive it could get I wasn’t too sure. But eventually I found a place with a stylist that I felt confident with my hair and wasn’t going to break my bank.

I've always had issues with someone cutting my hair.  It all started when I was younger, every time I went to get a hair cut I would tell the stylist how short I would want it.  But every time it would come out way shorter 2-3 inches off would end up being 5-6.  So now when I look for a salon to get my hair done it takes me forever to make a decision and I would just get over it for a while.

So any who, I cut about 4-5 inches off and had her do an ombre balayage look.  The whole process took about 3 to 4 hours.  The end result I love the way it turned out!  I have to admit though I was a little nervous during the process when she would come check and I saw a whole lot of blonde.  I had no idea how it would turned out it was a big surprise to me.

Birthday Card

I found a couple of pictures of the first birthday card I made my boyfriend on my old laptop and thought I would share it.

He likes the Chargers, so I decided to go with that theme.  Everything I used was bought at Walmart. I layered the ribbons on the card like the Chargers colors, and did the same with the bow.  For the inside I printed out 2 different helmets and the logo which I used to trace out the lighting bolts from craft fabrics and glued it all together.

If you would like to see how I put a similar card like this together please click on the link below to my other blog post.

Pineapple Beef Stir Fry

My mom used to make this all the time and it was one of my favorite childhood dishes.  This is called Pineapple Beef Stir Fry and you serve it with rice.  This is a pretty easy dish to make for those lazy nights.

Ingredients:

1 cup to 1 and a 1/2 cup of Pineapple
2 cups of sliced Beef (more or less depending on how much meat you want)
1-2 tablespoon olive oil or any cooking oil of your choice
1-3 garlic clove minced (depending on how much you love garlic)
3-4 tablespoons oyster sauce
1 teaspoon sugar
salt and pepper to taste

Directions:
  1. Mince garlic (I am using already fried garlic that my mom made but using fresh garlic is fine too)
  2. Slice pineapple (I sliced my pineapples diagonal 2 inch long)
  3. Thinly sliced the beef
  4. Add oil and garlic to the pan let it heat up for a little bit
  5. Add in the beef and start stir frying until almost done.
  6. Remove the beef onto a plate to set a side (this part is important because the citrus in the pineapple will break down the beef and you will have mushy beef)
  7. Add the pineapple into the pan and stir.  Heat up the pineapple well before returning the beef into the pan and mixing quickly
  8. Serve with rice

Remember a recipe is just a base for you guys to explore new flavors. You can always adjust these ingredients to your liking. I hope you guys do try this recipe.  So please enjoy, explore, and have a happy belly.

Another Ghost Story

During my trip up north for my cousins wedding, we went to my uncles house first to great everyone before heading to my cousins apartment to spend the night.  I’ve always known that there was something in this house even at a young age, you can just feel it.

Years back when I was in high school my uncles house had burned down except for my 2nd oldest cousin room. Her room was in tact nothing damage by the fire, but everything else in the house was destroyed. Weird and creepy? Yes, yes it is.

I did have pictures, tons of pictures but since have deleted them all because of something that was caught on camera.  I decided to delete these pictures feeling like it was a bad omen to have and why would I want to save bad memories. What was caught in the picture was a reflection of a girl with long hair off of the tv screen.  Now it seemed like it could be one of our reflection but it was just something about it that did not resemble any of us.

Flash forward years from then my uncle has rebuilt his home adding a second floor to the house.  The first night we arrived we sat downstairs facing the front door kind of turned slightly so that I can still slightly see upstairs.  As we are talking I see this figure of a girl I couldn’t see her face it was dark but i could see she was wearing a long skirt to just slightly above her ankles walking from the bathroom upstairs and stopping at the top of the stairs to look at us and then proceed to walk into my 2nd oldest cousin room.

When I first saw it I was a little scared but kept it to myself I didn’t want to say anything or tell anyone.  Whatever it was I didn’t feel threaten by it so I just let it go.

The next night my uncle was having a party and all of us cousins were in my 2nd oldest cousin room because all the other rooms were occupied by guest.  I needed floss so I went to the bathroom to look for some which I did find.  But I had to get out of there fast! I’m not sure what happened but I started to get goosebumps and feeling very nervous so I quickly ran out the bathroom and acted like nothing happened.

After the eventful weekend I talked with my other cousins Lisa and Crystal about what I had saw and felt.  I never told my 3 older cousin that lives up north about any of this that was happening in their home.

Anyway so after I told them, Lisa said she felt something at the house too especially in the upstairs bathroom and in my 2nd oldest cousin room.  Crystal ended up sleeping in that room but she couldn’t sleep well that night and ended up staying up.  She also had the same feelings about the bathroom.  That if we were to closed the door while in there something scary could go down.  The day I left my niece was napping upstairs when all of a sudden she woke up crying really hard.  It was a little strange just because she never wakes up crying.

I believe there is something in my uncles house especially since 2 of my cousins and my self had the same feeling and somewhat same experience.  We never talked to each other about this until we all got home from the mini vacation.

Cousins Wedding; Our Last Day Part 3

So it is the day after the wedding, everyone is exhausted.  Since my boyfriend and I didn’t get to go to San Francisco when we plan too we decided to go on our last day.  We didn’t get to stay as long as everyone else and they were planning to go to SF the next day.  So we took off! We saw so many things in a short amount of time.  We didn’t get into san francisco until about 1pm. I planned all the stops so that we could kind of go in a big circle.  There are plenty of things to see but time was limited so we had to narrow it down to just a few.

First we stopped by the Palace of Fine Arts.  I’ve always wanted to visit this place it looks beautiful!

Our second stop was to drive down Lombard Street it was awesome!  Although my cousins live close to San Francisco we never really got to do any of these touristy stuff.  It was always mainly drive through the golden gate bridge and then to chinatown.  But since it was just my boyfriend and I, I really wanted to make the effort to see all the things I never got to see whenever I came up north.
On the way to Lombard Street

After Lombard Street, we went to see the “Painted Ladies.” Growing up watching full house and always seeing this park, I just had too.  Parking can be a little hard but we got really lucky and got parking on the side of the Painted Ladies!

Third stop was going into downtown, we stopped by Ghirardelli Square to get some ice cream and it was so good! Then we went to Minamoto Kitchoan to pick up some Japanese desserts which is also very good, but very expensive.  After that we walked for a little bit and then drove by Japan town.

Fourth stop was to see the Dutch Windmill at Golden Gate Park.  There is a lot to do and see at this park I wish we had more time, but at least we got to see the windmills.

The last stop to our trip was at Sutro Baths to watch the sunset.  There are some trails to walk on leading you to other parts of the cliffs, but we just stuck to one side.  It was amazing to see how what was once a building is now in ruins. At the top of the hill you can see a heart shape in the middle of a rock in the ocean.

Heart in the rock

Part of the Golden Gate Bridge in the back.

That is the end of our 4 day weekend trip to my cousins wedding.  I can’t believe we did so much in so little time! I got to see and experience so many things I never thought I would actually get to do. Definitely another check off the bucket list!  I can’t wait to take another road trip up north, but next time it will be longer so that we can enjoy more of the things we want to see and do.
Crossing the bridge to go home.
