Red Lips

I've always thought I could never pull off red lips. That my skin color was too dark or my lips were too small to pull off any type of bright color lipstick.  But my cousins keep trying to put some color in my life.  This look is by her.  She attacked my face with a little bit of make up because I didn’t want to put any on.  It was just the basics eye liner, eye shadow, false lashes, eye brow, and lipstick.  I must say though I actually like the color on my lips and how everything turned out even though I didn’t put any foundation on.  The only thing is I was still a little bit nervous going out in public with bright color lips.  I’m the type of person that likes to wear dark color clothes or any non bright colored clothes.  I’ve been trying to change the way I dress and trying to have the mentality of who cares what I wear or who stares. But the introvert side of me is always there giving me unnecessary thoughts like if I wear this what will people think. But honestly I know no one is looking and you will never see that person again ever in your life.  I just get a little bit of anxiety sometimes.

Shadows of the night

A couple of weeks ago my boyfriend parents asked us to go see some houses with them that they were looking into purchasing.  We saw about 5 houses that day it was long hot and for the most part not that impressive.  One of the houses we went to see was strange.  1st we drove past a cemetery so thats already creepy, 2nd when we got to the house the neighbors were already so rude.  The house itself looked creepy we found out that it had been a foreclosed home.  So obviously the previous owners were pissed.  The front door had been nailed shut with wood boards from the inside, smashed windows, and everything inside the house was a hot mess everything looked trashed or ripped out of place.  The realtor said that the house is being remodeled but it didn't look that way too me.  While I was walking around the house I started to get bad negative energy like I wanted to get out the house as quickly as I can. The atmosphere just seemed off so I told my boyfriend I'm done and I'm going to the car.

Later that night my boyfriend and I were in his car talking about the houses today and other things we didn't want to talk inside his parents house because the walls were pretty thin and it was late at night.  So we're just chilling talking and I'm siting side ways in the front seat facing him when all of a sudden I see a shadow of a bald man on his neighbors RV.  For some reason after I saw the shadow I burst into tears. It initially did scary me when I first saw it because a shadow came out of nowhere but I wasn't scared of it so I have no idea why I started to cry.  Even though it was for a second I saw it go towards the darkness on the side of the house.

I feel like because we went into a bad negative energy house and we did argue a little bit in the car that it could have created more negative energy just enough for it to manifest itself for a split second. It was creepy though and I would be ok with not ever seeing it again.

Flea Collar

There are dogs on both sides of my boyfriend’s house and I have seen fleas before in his back yard while we were barbecuing.  So the first day we brought our pup home we let her run around outside before we started to groom her and there was already a flea on her.  So right away we went to the pet store to get flea medication.

Buying flea medication for your dog can get a little expensive over the years.  I usually get frontline plus, it's the brand that I've used for as long as I can remember.  But recently while browsing for flea medication we stumbled across this brand Seresto flea collar.  What caught our eyes was that it last for 8 months.  At first we were skeptical because all other flea medication only last for a month.  But we decided to try it anyways if it doesn't work, it doesn't work and we'll just go back to what we know.  Now this is in no way trying to put a bad name to frontline I love it, it works! It's just a little expensive.

It's been 8 months now since we put it on her and I can definitely say it does work.  I have not seen any fleas on my dog.  It also comes with little reflectors to put on the collar but in my opinion it doesn't really do anything.  So it's your option to put it on the collar or not.  We did repurchased this item and will most likely be using this brand from now on as long as it keeps working.

Starting to blog again?

It has been a couple of years since my last post.  Nothing much has happen between my last post and now.

The only big thing that happen is my boyfriend and I got a dog during the summer.  We've always plan to get a dog together but it happened unexpectedly.  During the summer the shelters had an event called clear the shelter with all dogs puppies to adult’s adoption fee reduce to $20.  The event was almost over with only 2 hours left to check out the shelters we decided to see what the event was all about.

The first shelter we went too was crazy packed!  We walked around and there were a bunch of cute dogs but we ended up checking out another shelter called wags.  It was a lot smaller, first we looked at a Chihuahua mix adult dog he was adorable and sweet.  But we decided to look some more.

I than notice this little white dog sitting between 2 bigger dogs that look just like her.  I didn't notice her at first she was so little and scared.  I asked to see her and she just melted my heart.  She was scared and was shaking very hard.  She kept hiding under the chair but we got her out every time.  It took about 30 minutes of us comforting her until she stopped shaking.  She started to wonder around the room exploring coming to us on her own.  So adorable!  We later found out she was from a hoarding house. The owner had passed away leaving behind 13 or so dogs.  They all seem well feed just extremely dirty. We did end up adopting her and naming her Mochi.

It took a month for her to settle in and open up her personality.  At first she didn't know what to do with toys, she didn't know how to play and interact.  She didn't eat much and thought us petting her was weird.  But eventually!  She started to do normal puppy things.  She is super attached to my boyfriend.  Where ever he goes she goes.  She is definitely a little drama queen.  Her personality is unlike any other dogs I have own.  She's smart but lazy unless treats are involved she is quick to learn although she gets a little over excited when she sees a treat.

It was an unexpected surprise adopting her, but i'm glad we did. :)

Fear talk 3; Being Bullied

Since as far back as I can remember I’ve always been known to be a passive person.  I didn’t like confrontation, the arguing, dramas, and the negativity so I always agreed with everyone to make people happy.  In elementary school I was known as the shy quiet girl I always wanted to sit in the back never wanted to get called on.  After a certain grade I would always day dream and space out because I didn’t like school very much.  It’s not that it was hard it just felt like a lot of people were picking on me which was mainly the guys.  I had one best friend in elementary I’m pretty sure his name was Tommy.  He never picked on me and we always hanged out together and got along very well.  Until the school decided to have a new lunch system involving computers which resulted in half the school being transferred to a new school and there goes my best friend.  I think the school was called sunny or Sunnyside? Not too sure but I was pretty sad.

Even though I was bullied by some of the guys the teachers didn’t help much.  There was one teacher that was very hard on me I won’t name names but out of everyone else she picked on me the most finding every way possible to get me in trouble.  Why? I have no idea why.  She was the only teacher I remember who tried her hardest to make that school year a nightmare for me.  Which in turn made me not want to go to school I have to admit my grades dropped and I stopped focusing.  I was like well why bother if the teachers didn’t even care.  I was bullied from elementary school to 7th grade once I moved to a new city closer to my mom’s job I wasn’t bullied at all maybe like once in 8th grade but it was whatever.  Once I went into high school the bulling stopped.  My grades went back up and I was doing well in school until another big event happen in my life which I will talk about that later on.

So what I’m trying to say is bullying doesn’t last forever.  Yeah I was bullied for most of my childhood and it was pretty hard, and it did affect my life.  I didn’t have that many people to turn too, I felt alone most of the time.  But look I’m still here today being bullied can hurt you but it's just words and yes words can hurt, but sometimes you just have to ignore and look past it all.  You can’t rely on people to make you stronger you have to be strong yourself, learn to overcome difficult obstacles in your life to be better.  Things happens for a reason maybe it’s caused by your surroundings, the people around you, or you made that reason happen yourself, but whatever it is it happened for a reason.  It’s something you can learn from and become a stronger better person to have a happy life.

Going Back To School!

I haven’t been to school in a while and just been doing my thing, but I think it’s time I go back and get a career for myself.  Even though it’s not what I expected my career choice to be you have to start somewhere; I’ll be attending a vocational school. I've been researching a lots of different schools and read some good and mostly bad reviews.  I’m excited but more nervous because a lot of money is going into this and of course I want something out of it. I just have to put myself through this and try my hardest and after this is all over we will see where I’ll be.  So far everyone that works at the school is very nice and helpful, so as of now everything is off to a good start! :)

Beef Satay aka Sach Ko Jakak

A couple of weeks ago my boyfriend and I went to the night market in Westminster. It is pretty expensive once you add it all up at the end of the night.  Anyways this was the first time my boyfriend tried the meat on a stick beef satay aka in Khmer sach ko jakak and loved it.  I've always wanted to learn how to make it and been meaning to ask my mom and grandma how to but haven't had time. So since I didn't want to bother them I took to the web and found multiple recipes. So I came up with my own and it was pretty good for a first time. :)

This is how I made mine

I have a premixed turmeric powder and Thai galangal powder that I made myself which is 2 tb turmeric and 1tb and 1tsp galangal and I used 1 tb and 1tsp and a half (1/2) of that mixture

1 TB and 1 and a 1/2 tsp turmeric/gangala powder mixture
Pinch salt
Pinch pepper
2 tsp sugar
1 tb honey
2/3 cup oyster sauce
4-5 gloves garlic - minced
2 small red onion or shallots - minced
4 stalks of lemon grass – crushed and minced
1 tb oil
Slice beef
(Depending on how much sliced beef you use you might need a little more or less oyster sauce)

Lemon Grass: Hit the stalk with the back of the knife and minced (picture shown at the bottom)

Mix all ingredients together mix the beef into the sauce for about 1-2 minutes just to make sure the meat is completely coated since they will get stuck together.
Let marinate for 1 and a half hours to 4 hours or up to 24 hours
Once done marinating set oven to 375-400 degrees
Skewer the beef onto a skewer stick back and forth kind of making an S shape
Put it in the oven for about 5 minutes or less flip once and leave it in for another 5 minutes or less until it’s done

Also how long it takes to cook depends on how thin or thick your slice of beef is. So make sure to keep an eye on it, how long I keep mine in might burn yours if your meat is too thin.

You can also grill it which is usually how it is prepared but I suck at grilling so I baked it. Same deal with grilling though only need to flip once unless you want the char color to be all over the place then flip away

minced lemon grass and garlic

beef marinated for about 1 hour 30 minutes to 2 hours

the end result! serve with rice
